Little Al's at the firs

The firs

Little Al’s Cafe at The Firs is an idyllic, contemporary, family, and dog-friendly cafe in Worcestershire that caters to the culturally curious and nature lovers alike.

Located at the birthplace of English composer Sir Edward Elgar, Little Al’s at The Firs offers a window into nature’s musical presence and a flicker of Elgar’s upbringing and musical history.

We aim to create a calm environment that is easy to get lost in over a good book and a spot of tea. Pick out your new read or reminisce about your favourite musicians and artists. The National Trust has a range of second-hand books, CDs, and LPs to purchase within the cafe for a small fee payable in reception.

Our cafe is quietly comforting, with views of the musical gardens. As Spring and Summer arrive, the doors burst open onto a secluded patio perfect for taking in all the senses and breathing in Elgar’s work and heritage. You can even try your hand at a couple of instruments on your walk to get in the musical mood. Or, try the interactive QR codes to discover the 5 essential ingredients for original music.

If you are a National Trust member, you can also tour the cottage gardens and enter the chocolate-box-style cottage where Elgar grew up.

Our hand-selected, seasonal menus feature freshly made sweet and savoury options, focusing on locally and ethically sourced ingredients that reflect our core values. Enjoy classic brunch favourites such as homemade, seasonal soups, locally baked teacakes, handmade sausage rolls, and more. Our hand-made bakes are always on rotation to ensure we use the freshest, tastiest ingredients in all our snacks and puddings. Think date and pumpkin flapjacks, cinnamon buns, and brownies, which always go down a treat.

There is something on the menu to inspire the whole family, including traditional brews, matcha and turmeric lattes, and babycinos for your little ones. We even have our coffee beans blended by the owner and founder, Alex, in collaboration with our amazing friends at Coffee Masters for those who favour quality coffee!

We also cater to allergies and intolerances, so please let us know at the till, and we can guide you through our ingredients.

At the majority of our Worcestershire cafes, we never let your pets go amiss. Your pups can also enjoy fresh water bowls and tasty treats, not to mention Waggy Dog icecream.
