Winners of the Sustainable and Responsible Tourism Award
Back in 2022, Little Al’s Kitchen was proudly awarded the Sustainable and Responsible Tourism Award by Visit Worcestershire at Stanbrook Abbey. Winning the award felt extra special as it was the first awards ceremony, and we were pitched against some pretty impressive local businesses.
Always ethical & responsible
Little Al’s Kitchen was highlighted for its commitment to sustainable and responsible practices within the business; judges commenting that sustainability runs through every aspect of the business.
Here are some of the ways that we implemented these values and practices.

We have always used Biopak home compostable coffee cups, upcycled, recycled, and reused our packaging. Even our coffee grounds don’t go to waste! These values run right through to our operations, waste management, and ingredient sourcing that make up our recipes. Even our uniform is sustainably sourced using ‘earth positive’ garments and organic water-based inks with our aprons being made from a combination of organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles.
Our head office is partially powered by solar PV cells on the roof and the majority of our cafes wherever possible are supplied by 100% renewable energy.
Our Coffee shops are low-waste & environmentally friendly
Since then, we’ve dedicated ourselves to making our coffee shops a green, transparent, and low-waste space. Our furniture has been upcycled or responsibly sourced, in keeping with our style and principles.
Ditching plastic was the minimum. But, selecting local and seasonal produce was a priority to reduce our transport mileage and put money back into the regional network of businesses. That’s why you can openly see who we work with, and it’s easy to spot that our suppliers are very important to us.
We choose quality, local and independent suppliers
You’ll notice that many of our suppliers are family run, always sustainable, and come highly recommended for their premium taste. Not only are you enjoying something fresh and homemade, but you’re also supporting local businesses and doing your bit for the environment.
Keep an eye on our journal as over the next 12 months we’ll be visiting our local suppliers to showcase their sustainability credentials and see where our fantastic produce comes from.
